One of many questions we get asked here at West Way Nissan by customers interested in buying a Nissan LEAF is – ‘how will I charge my Electric Vehicle?!’ To help answer any questions you may have, we’ve got together all of the questions our customers ask about charging a Nissan LEAF and put it all in one place to tell you everything you need to know about powering your electric vehicle.
Where can I charge my LEAF?
You can charge your LEAF both on the go and at home. Your LEAF will come with a standard 6 metre charger which will plug into a domestic socket and charge your LEAF in 10 hours (following a British Gas home assessment). You can also charge your LEAF whilst on the go. The Government and Local Authorities are working towards making it a lot easier for the country to charge their electric vehicles when they’re out and about. As a result, there are now over 5,000 charging points in the UK, over 130 of these being Rapid Chargers which provide an 80% charge in just 30 minutes.
How much will it cost?
Charging points often require you to join memberships which allow you to join charging networks on a pay-as-you-go scheme.
The cost of charging an electric vehicle is extremely low and sometimes free. Compare that to what your weekly petrol costs would be and you could be saving a great deal of money. You can even drive up to 100,000 miles per year for just £186!
How will I know when to charge?
The LEAF comes with an in-car computer display that monitors the car’s current charge so that you can see when you are running low. This means that you won’t ever run out of charge!
