TREAD CAREFULLY WITH YOUR TYRES

Given the recent run of bad weather, it is more important than ever to keep your tyres in optimum condition.
There are three very simple checks that you should carry out regularly to ensure your vehicle is running safely and economically:
• Check tyre pressure – under inflation by 20% can increase tyre wear by 25%
• Visual check – look for any obvious damage to the tyre wall or tread
• Check tread depth – the legal minimum is 1.6mm but for your safety most motoring organisations recommend at least 2mm. If your tyre treads fall below the legal minimum, you could face 3 penalty points and a fine of up to £2500 per tyre.
