[Used LEAF] Named ‘Used Electric Car Of The Year’ 2020

What Car? has named the Used Nissan LEAF 40kWh 2018 Model their 2021 Used Electric Car of the Year. Not only that, the 1st Generation Model - in production from 2011 to 2017 - received a Price Point Award and was named Best Buy of 2020 by Which? Magazine.

Many review videos and write up's have complimented the 2nd Generation Nissan LEAF (40kWh) too. As one of the big-named players in the review industry, What Car? had these comments about the used electric car: “Nissan has developed a rounded and refined package with the 2nd Generation Nissan LEAF. The 40kWh model offers an excellent driving range and practical boot space. As standard, the safety technologies offer features like blind-spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition.”

Mark Pearson, Used Car Editor at What Car?, said: “We’re delighted to give the Nissan LEAF our Used Electric Car of the Year Award this year. This 2nd Generation model is a truly affordable electric vehicle that’s always impressed us for its practicality and ease of use, and with its impressive real-world range it’s also a great everyday proposition.”

What Car? also had amazing comments about the 1st Generation Nissan LEAF. The leading review company compared it to other electric car rivals in the same price bracket. By collecting data from 47,000 motorists on reliability and practicality, this offers a more informed review for decision making motorists. What Car? awarded their Price Point Award to the 1st Generation Nissan LEAF on this basis. The Post-2017 model offered a larger number of Post-2017 models within the £13,000 price range. This award looks across all the Used Electric Vehicle category at this price point. They found the 1st Generation Nissan LEAF offered a higher battery capacity at 30kWkh, giving this Nissan model a greater range against its other used electric vehicle rivals.

The 1st Generation Nissan LEAF has received a long list of accreditations. The model was named the 'Best Electric Vehicle' in the Auto Express Used Car Award three years in a row from 2016-2018. It now is looking likely that the 2nd Generation model will follow suit, as the 2018 model is named 'Best Used Electric Car' in Auto Express’ 2020 Driving Electric Awards. This reviews and celebrates the best Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid and Electric cars for sale.

Mark Pearson, also said: "With plenty of used examples around now starting from some pleasingly low prices, it really does bring zero-emissions motoring within the reach of a large number of buyers.”

Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director of Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd., said: “We’re delighted to see both generations of Nissan LEAF continuing to receive official praise in the growing used Electric Vehicle market. The LEAF is the entry point to EV driving for thousands of motorists, whether that’s in the latest generation LEAF e+ or used examples which now date back to 2011 and represent a very accessible route to EV ownership.” As a final note, Humberstone said: “Nissan focuses on ensuring its product line-up offers customers value and enjoyment at every stage of the car’s lifecycle. Through innovation and a pioneering spirit we’ve led the EV market for almost a decade and have successfully converted thousands of drivers to the benefits of zero-emissions driving. It’s also great to hear that the advanced technologies we developed on the Nissan LEAF were a major factor in both generations of the vehicle receiving these awards.”
