Electric vehicles are storming the market and the demand for them is continuing to grow every year. These vehicles give drivers a more environmentally friendly way of travelling as well as saving on fuel costs and road tax. We have summarised ‘all you need to know’ about electric vehicles with a Q&A below.

How Much Do Electric Cars Cost?
Electric vehicles range in price depending on a number of factors. Both new and used Nissan LEAF's are competitively priced.

Are There Government Grants For Electric Vehicle Owners?

There are two main government grants available for EV owners; the plug-in grant which helps towards the cost of buying a new electric vehicle and the electric car charging grant which contributes towards the installation of a home charging unit. Find out more here.

How Long Do Electric Cars Take to Charge?

An electric car’s charging time can vary depending on the type of charger you are using and the capacity of your vehicle’s battery. The quickest way to charge your car is to use a rapid charging unit. These units tend to charge the majority of electric cars to 80% in around 30 minutes. A fast charge point is capable of charging a Nissan LEAF in about 120 minutes whereas charging at home takes around 9 hours.

How Much Is A Home Charging Station for Electric Cars?

The Government’s electric charging scheme grant is designed to help pay for the installation of a home charging unit, contributing up to £500 towards the cost. Click here to find out how much you are entitled to. This will then cost you around 14p per kWh to charge your vehicle from then on.

How Much Does It Cost to Charge an Electric Car at a Charging Station & at Home?

From home you can fully charge your Nissan LEAF at a cost of only £6.60 (based on a 3kW home charger). This works out at only 3.9p per mile whereas the average petrol or diesel car costs around 12p per mile – meaning driving the same distance would cost around £20.20. If you charge it at a public charging station it would cost you around 30p per kWh.

How Far Can an Electric Car Go?

The distance an electric vehicle can travel is based on the vehicle itself. Some lower end electric vehicles can travel around 100 miles with one charge whereas some of the newer electric vehicles can travel around 300 miles on one single charge. The type of terrain, climate and the speed that the vehicle is travelling at can affect how far you can travel in one charge. The New Nissan LEAF can travel up to 235 miles on a single charge.

What Features Does The Nissan LEAF Include?
