Free App that helps drivers with a disability refuel

In the past, refuelling the car has been one of the biggest challenges that disabled drivers have had to deal with. For this reason, numerous fuel stations have joined forces with fuelService, a free app that offers disabled drivers in the UK assistance when refuelling.

For years drivers with a disability, especially wheelchair users have struggled to fill up their vehicles at their local petrol station. This has involved trying to get the attention of the petrol station staff by beeping the horn or flashing lights which has proved difficult. This has also been a problem for the staff if the petrol station is single manned, meaning they can’t help the customer for security reasons. This has led many wheelchair users to have to assemble their wheelchair themselves, fill their vehicle with fuel and then make their way to the shop to pay before getting back into their vehicle and dismantling their wheelchair. Many drivers have also had to drive from station to station trying to find one that can help.

The fuelService app tells users which nearby stations have assistants who are available to refuel your car, so they know that someone from the station will be on hand ready to help. The app also tells the garage when the driver has arrived, meaning no more beeping horns or flashing lights.

The app also provides directions to the nearest station and allows customers to provide feedback about their experience. The app is available and free to download on iPhone, Android and Windows devices.

Using the App Step by Step

Search – select your fuel type and simply click the search button

Choose – choose your nearest station from a list or map view

Ask – fuelStation will contact the station and ask if they can assist

Drive – drive to the station and let them know you have arrived by clicking ‘I’ve Arrived’

Waiting – the station will then say how long they will be before they come out

Review – rate the station and provide feedback so it can improve if necessary
