After the release of the new 2017 Micra this month, Nissan have no plans of stopping there just yet. The Nissan Qashqai is already one of the top selling SUV’s on the market, winning awards, year after year. The ultimate crossover took the spotlight and became the main attraction at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, showcasing its new enhancements taking Nissan’s journey to the next step towards a more intelligent motoring future; this reinforces Nissan's desire towards achieving zero-emissions and increased safety for drivers.

So what’s changed? To celebrate its 10 Year anniversary, Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies have been added to the vehicle turning this Nissan classic into a modern favourite, transforming how we drive cars in the future. ProPILOT The biggest announcement on the new model is the addition of the ProPILOT semi-autonomous drive mode; handling the steering acceleration and braking on a single lane on a motorway. Echoing the car manufacturers aim to move towards self-driving vehicles. The camera can see lane markings and other vehicles in three-dimensional depth which enables the system to control the distance from a car ahead when driving on a motorway, with speed pre-set by the driver. In traffic or to avoid a hazard, ProPILOT can bring the car to a complete stop. ProPILOT provides consumers with a more confident drive, enhanced control and greater freedom.

The ProPILOT is already in action in Japan with Nissan’s Serena. The first of those to be sold in the UK will be the 2017 Qashqai. Nissan are due to produce 10 autonomous-capable vehicles before 2020 and have also announced that the world’s best-selling EV - the Nissan LEAF will also feature ProPILOT when the second-generation model is launched very soon. Paul Willcox, Chairman, Nissan Europe, commented: “So much has been achieved in the year since we announced our Nissan Intelligent Mobility blueprint for zero emissions and zero fatalities. Models such as the new Nissan Qashqai, unveiled at Geneva Motor Show today, are just the beginning of our exciting journey towards a more intelligent motoring future.” Exterior and Interior Visually the exterior and interior of the vehicle haven’t drastically changed, but with new additions like the ‘V-MOTION’ grille and bumper, there is a sporty sense to the car as well as its original muscular shape.

The bonnet has also been reshaped with new LED light clusters, a superior styling differentiation between the halogen and LED lamps. Redesigned front lamps add to the new Qashqai’s premium appeal, while the addition of adaptive front lighting improves night-time safety.

At the rear, the car’s instantly recognisable ‘boomerang’ light motif is extended across the whole lamp, and now includes a contemporary 3D lens effect to enhance the signature shape. The interior has also received a few modifications; high quality materials for the interior. The new D-shaped multi-function steering wheel with premium satin-chrome inserts has a resemblance to the GTR steering wheel. It features a 4 way controller for the combimeter display, for more intuitive use and less ‘eyes off the road’ time.

Choosing the range topping Tekna+ will allow for luxurious soft nappa leather seats and 3D quilting on the centre panels. However Nissan haven’t lost sight of practicality thicker rear glass and new soundproofing element from the road, engine and wind is also included. Seamless Autonomous Mobility  Developed from NASA technology, Nissan have launched Seamless Autonomous Mobility (SAM )  'SAM' which partners in-vehicle artificial intelligence (AI) and human support to help autonomous vehicles make decisions in unpredictable situations to help cars cope with unforeseen events and navigate around unexpected obstacles.

Intelligent Auto Headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System The new Qashqai’s headlights not only recognise when the light reduces in the day but it also illuminates around bends because of its Adaptive Front Light System. Intelligent Auto Headlights

New Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Recognition This model not only looks out for you but for those around you as well. This new feature warns you if there are any pedestrians or objects and if necessary helps you to reduce speed.

The UK’s most popular SUV sold 2.3 million from its launch in 2007 according to express.co.uk and was voted ‘Car of the Year’ in 19 countries worldwide; Nissan have stayed true to what made the Qashqai a pioneer in the crossover evolution and its subtle changes bring it right up-to-date.
