Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that as of early FY2022 they are aiming to launch an all-new, all-electric minivehicle in Japan, which part of a join project with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and being planned and developed by NMKV Co., Ltd.
The aim of this new minivehicle is to redefine the popular car category within Japan. It features instant acceleration, smooth driving, and cabin quietness, which are key characteristics of all electric vehicles. The battery capacity of the minivehicle is 20 kWh, as it's driving range has specifically been designed to suit the daily needs of individuals living in Japan. Not only will it be useful for daily use, but can be used as an emergency power source, as it can provide electricity for your home. At 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide, and 1,655 mm high, with such small dimensions the vehicle has been designed to fit the, sometimes cramped, Japanese roads.
As a major pioneer of electric vehicles, Nissan has sold more than 500,000 LEAF's since 2010, and 150,000 were sold in Japan. As part of it's whole initiative to bring us closer to a more sustainable society, Nissan are currently working on a project called 'Blue Switch' which aims to tackle issues such as environmental load reduction and disaster countermeasures.
