What is an Air Con Cleanse?
An Air Con Cleanse is a process that cleans the air conditioning in your vehicle and eliminates all of the bacteria, fungi and mould that overtime gathers in your air con. This can cause a bad odour coming from your air vents when your cars air con is switched on so an air con clean is something every car should get in its life span.
What gas is needed for my car?
There are two different types of air-con gas. The first of these is R134A gas witch is a common gas used in vehicles manufactured before 2014. R1234YF gas is the gas used in vehicles manufactured after 1st January 2017 and is a lot better for the environment. After 1st January 2017 manufacturers were not allowed to use the R134A gas due to it being bad for the environment. Between these two dates, however, both gases were allowed to be used in vehicles air-cons.
Why does it need to be serviced?
Your car's air-conditioning doesn't just keep you cool, it could keep you healthy too. A clean and effective air conditioning system means no build-up of bacteria, condensation and bad odours which can lead to contamination and make you feel ill. Also, a service can make sure your Air-conditioning system is working well and also can ensure that it is running at its top performance possible.
What happens if it's not serviced?
The system will continue to lose gas, becoming less and less efficient. This will increase your fuel consumption, increase your chances of falling ill from bacteria build-up and eventually the system will fail. This can affect both your personal health and your vehicle's performance so it is a good idea to book in for regular services when needed.
How often should it be serviced?
Air-conditioning systems can lose up to 10% of their gas each year, so we recommend a service every 2 years to ensure that your Air-conditioning system is at its best performance. However, if your air vents start to let out an odour then it is best to get it checked out as soon as possible.
